MODERN WOODMEN'S FIT FOR LIFE
CHARITY 5K WALK/RUN

Join us for the first-ever charity walk/run at Modern Woodmen's National Convention. Lace up your athletic shoes and choose between a one-mile or 5K route through Indianapolis' scenic White River State Park.

All proceeds from the race will be donated to the Jared Foundation - an organization started by the SUBWAY® spokesman and Indianapolis native Jared Fogle. The foundation is dedicated to providing education and resources that address childhood obesity.

You'll also have a chance to meet Jared as he makes a special appearance at the race!

To add to the spirit of competition, we've divided the country into three geographic teams that will "compete" against each other for the most number of participants and dollars raised. Each team will be represented by a different color. Help support your team! And encourage fellow participants from your area to participate as well.

Don't want to walk or run? We encourage you to come out anyway and cheer on your family and friends! Spectators have access to fun items to motivate the runners and can enjoy refreshments with the participants after the race.

RACE DETAILS:

  • When: Tuesday, July 1, 2014
Race begins at 7:30am (Plan to arrive by 7:00am)

  • Where: Meet in the hotel lobby and Modern Woodmen staff will direct you to the starting point at the White River State Park. The starting line is a quick five minute walk from the hotel.

  • Entry Fee: An individual participant's entry fee is a donation of $20. Or you can choose a family rate of $50. All money donated will go to the Jared Foundation.

All runners and walkers will receive a special race t-shirt and race packet, in addition to a commemorative participation medal.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION:
Register online through the National Convention registration website.

RACE PACKETS:
Be sure to stop by the race table at registration in Griffin Exhibit Hall on Saturday or Sunday to pick up your race packet, t-shirt and bib number.

ABOUT THE ROUTE:
Choose between a one-mile or 5K route.

The route starts off in the heart of beautiful White River State Park. Runners and walkers then cross a pedestrian bridge over the White River toward the Indianapolis Zoo. One-mile route participants will turn around and head back over the bridge. Participants in the 5K will continue on The Promenade along the river before crossing back over. They'll proceed alongside Indianapolis' unique canals, near the NCAA Hall of Champions and the Indiana State Museum before heading back to the finish line.

ABOUT THE JARED FOUNDATION:
Established in 2004 by SUBWAY® restaurants spokesman Jared Fogle, the Jared Foundation educates children and parents about the importance of healthy nutrition and exercise. By sharing his weight challenges, which began when he was 8 years-old, Jared aims to inspire children and support their families, as well as motivate communities to become involved and take action to help children.

What better way to live the Convention's "Fit for Life" theme than by supporting this great cause?!
